Floodwood opens Playoffs with Win

The Floodwood Polar Bears, who just completed the first undefeated regular season in school history, dispatched the Cherry Tigers in the first round of the Section 5 Nine-man Football Tournament in Floodwood.

At 9-0 on the season the Polar Bears will now move on to the sectional semi final game on Saturday when they host McGregor which defeated Hill City 29-18.

Tuesday‘s Floodwood win started when Willow Christenson nabbed a pass from Riley Bernsdorf and took it 55 yards for a score making 7-0 after the Dylan Utecht extra point kick.  The Polar Bears added another score in the first quarter when Evan Suonvieri scored on an eight yard run and again the extra point kick was made by Utecht pushing the lead to 14-0 after one quarter.

The Polar Bears added three more scores in the second quarter to salt the game away the first of which was a Suonvieri three yard run making it 21-0 following the extra point kick.  Floodwood pushed the lead to 28-0 on a Dylan Graff 29-yard touchdown scamper and a Utecht kick and then the Polar Bears ended the scoring on the night with a Bernsdorf one yard run for the final score of 34-0
