After beating Proctor-Hermantown-Marshall in a tight game last week, the Cloquet-Esko-Carlton girls hockey team fell 6-5 to Wayzata on Saturday in Plymouth, Minnesota.

The Jacks played things pretty even through the first period, but trailed 2-1. The shot chart went significantly towards Wayzata in the second period as they built a 14-6 margin of shots in the period. The result? A four goal period for Wayzata, while the Jacks strung together three goals of their own and trailed 6-4 entering the final stanza.

In the third period, the Lumberjacks responded by out shooting Wayzata 6-4 and cutting the lead to 6-5, but that was all they could muster in the game.

For the game, the Jacks were outshot 25-18 as Nicole Lund made 21 saves through two periods and Sarah Gustafson finished with four saves in the last period for CEC.
