MLA Boys Get 4-2 Win Over Silver Bay

The Moose Lake Area boys hockey team certainly came out ready to play on Friday night. Adam Ryan scored the first of his two goals just thirty seconds into the contest to help give the Rebels a 4-2 home win over Silver Bay.


After Ryan scored with an assist from Hayden Hoffman, the first period continued to be action packed. Three minutes later, Silver Bay tied things up when Ruslan Loeffler scored for the Mariners. Not to be outdone, Ryan scored his second goal on the power play with 2:27 left in the first period, putting the Rebels up 2-1 after one.


The second period picked up right where the first left off in terms of action when Cody Larson tied the game at 2-2, scoring a power play goal for Silver Bay less than two minutes into the period. Larson scored just a mere 13 seconds into the power play.


The Rebels found their answer when Chris Gassert scored an unassisted, what would be the game winning, goal 3:44 into the period, putting MLA up 3-2. With 4:31 remaining in the second period, Ville Mattala, with an assist from Michael Unzen, gave the Rebels an insurance goal to increase the lead to 4-2.


The Rebels hung on through a scoreless third period that saw to notch their first win of the season, evening their record at 1-1.
