Bombers Get Home Win To Open The Season

The Barnum Bombers opened their boy’s basketball season with a big win at home over the Carlton Bulldogs. Looking to improve on last season, Barnum started on the right track with the 83-44 point win over the Bulldogs.


The Bombers opened up quickly, gaining a big lead and never looking back as they rolled to the 39 point win. “We played really well in our first game of the season,” head coach Richard Newman told Northland Sports Online. “We still have work to do on defense, but I am really happy with how they played.”


The Bombers finished with four players scoring in double figures on the night with senior Taylor Carlson leading the way with 16 points. Nick White finished with 15 points, and Justin Newman and Bobby Minkkinen each added 12 in the win. Newman also added seven assists for the Bombers. Jake Naslund scored 8 points on the night as did Josh Hogan, who also finishied with 8 assists and 10 rebounds for the Bombers. Rounding out the scoring for the Bombers was Andrew Youngren with 7, Hector Chavez 3, Luke Chalberg 2, and Danny Warpula added 1.


The Carlton Bulldogs got a great night from senior guard Jake Adams. Adams finished the game as the leading scorer of the game, pounding in 22 points for the Bulldogs. Allan Davis had chipped in 10 points in the Carlton loss.


The Bombers are 1-0 on the season and they will be in action again on Saturday when they host the Denfeld Hunters at 2:00 pm. The Carlton Bulldogs fall to 0-2 on the season. They will be in action on Friday night at home when they host the Esko Eskomos in a Polar League match-up.
