Hawks Sweep Rails

The Hermantown Hawks swept the Proctor Rails in a Lake Superior Conference match-up Thursday night at Proctor High School. The Hawks rebounded from a loss Monday night to the Carlton Bulldogs with a sweep of the Rails.

The Hawks defeated the Rails by scores of 25-12, 25-15, and in the third game the Hawks won in a close contest 26-24 to take the road win Thursday night. The Rails who have struggled this season have now lost three in a row.

The Hawks were led by Emily Neumann who finished with 22 set assists on the night; Jillayne Gilbert added 7 kills, Carley Hansen had 6 kills and Hailey Menzel chipped in with 8 digs.

The Proctor Rails Kylie Hommerding led the Rails Thursday night as she finished with 15 set assists, 5 ace servers, and she also had 7 digs in the loss. Kyla Merrill added 7 kills and 2 ace serves.

The Hawks improve to 15-5 overall on the season and they will host Virginia on Monday night at Hermantown High School.

The Proctor Rails fall to 2-13 on the season with the loss, and the Rails will play in the Two Harbors Invitational this Saturday in Two Harbors.
