The Cherry Tigers defeated the Southridge panthers in volleyball action on Tuesday night as the Panthers after finishing second in the Virginia tournament over the weekend, the Panthers dropped their second match in a row as the Tigers won the match in five games

The Tigers opened the night with a 27-25 win in the first game of the match, while Southridge rebounded and won the second game 25-14. Cherry responded in game three with a 25-21 win and Southridge tied the match in the fourth game with a 25-20 win.

With the match all tied at two games a piece and that set up the fifth game to decide the winner and it was the Tigers pulling out the 15-8 win at Southridge High School in Culver

Cherry was led by Mikala Kowarch as she had 45 set assists and 14 digs, Kacey Herring had 22 kills and 20 digs, while Amber Anderson added 25 digs for the Tigers who improve to 11-6 on the season.

The Panthers were led by Justice Janke who had 22 kills, 17 digs, and 4 blocks on the night, Krystal Karppinen had 19 digs, 3 ace serves, and 9 kills. Mikayla Olesiak had 10 digs, and 2 ace serves, and it was Callie Thomason who ended with 34 set assists on the night.

The Panthers fall to 11-6 overall on the season and they will be back in action next Tuesday night when they will face Mountain Iron-Buhl at Southridge High School.

The Tigers improve to 11-6 and they will face Bigfork at home Thursday night.
