Northland Volleyball Club Wraps Up Winter Season

The winter indoor season has officially ended for the Northland Volleyball Club. After a long season that began in November, the league’s playoffs in the advanced and intermediate divisions have just now been completed. All league games were played at FDLTCC in Cloquet.

In the advanced division, it was an upset with Kuklis Concrete winning the playoffs after finishing their regular season in 8th place. In the playoffs, Kuklis Concrete went 5-0, which included beating the regular season’s number one team 3B-Jack twice. They conquered 3B-Jack in the second round and then again in the championship game with scores of 25-18 and 25-15 to claim the 2009 Indoor League Championship. 3B-Jack finished second and 3B-STD finished in third place; team Jason came in fourth.

The intermediate division saw things follow the normal course with the top three teams in the regular season finishing that way in the playoffs. It was The Jack Attack defeating the Sawyer Store in three games to capture the intermediate division championship. The Jack Attack downed Sawyer Store 18-25, 25-19, 19-17 in the last. B&B finishes the playoffs in third place and it was Team Mike coming in fourth.

The banquet for all teams and players will be held Saturday, May 16th at the Big Lake Golf Club where prizes and awards will be given out. Summer leagues will start May 28th and run until August.
