The University of Wisconsin-Superior athletic department and head coach Don Mulhern are excited to announce that the women’s basketball team will open the 2010-2011 season with an exhibition game against the University of Wisconsin Badgers. The Yellowjackets will have three local players participating in the contest.

Danielle Anderson and her sister Samantha, both 2008 graduates from Wrenshall High School, along with Hillary Peterson, a 2009 graduate from Moose Lake-Willow River will have the opportunity to face a Big Ten team in what some describe as a once in a lifetime opportunity.

The game will take place on Sunday, November 7th at 1:30pm in Madison on the University of Wisconsin’s campus. The Badgers’ women’s head basketball coach, Lisa Stone, offered the Yellowjackets to come and play at the Kohl Center.

Stone once held a head coaching position in the WIAC and has always looked to provide opportunities for the conference and for women’s basketball as well.

The Yellowjackets are part of a rotating schedule of WIAC
teams that face the Badgers yearly.

“It’s a great honor for our basketball team to have a chance to play at the Kohl Center,” women’s head basketball coach Mulhern told Northland Sports Online. “Several of our players from Wisconsin have dreamed of playing there, much as players from Minnesota dream of playing at Williams Arena.”

Northland Sports Online will have more information as the game approaches.
