Mia Saunders has never really been a pitcher, but the talented athlete has moved into that role for the Carlton Bulldogs this season. On Friday, Saunders tossed a solid game and picked up her third win of the season in a 4-0 victory over Hinckley-Finlayson.

The Bulldogs, under first year head coach Brooke Tondryk-Lee, used some timely hitting to help Saunders who made a bid for a perfect game through six innings. Christy Eggert was 2-for-4 and belted a 3-run homer in the seventh inning and she finished with 4 RBI’s. Holly Nelson also helped on the offensive side with a pair of hits.

Saunders, who has verbally committed to play softball for the Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College Thunder next season, finished with a 3-hit and 5-strikeout performance in picking up her third win of the season.

Carlton will have a busy upcoming week as they host Two Harbors on Monday in a game originally scheduled to be played at Two Harbors. On Tuesday, they host ML-WR, Thursday they face off against Esko and on Saturday they travel to Cook County. Hinkley-Finlayson will be back in action on Monday as they travel to Ogilvie.
