Floodwood Sweeps Silver Bay

The Floodwood Polar Bears girls volleyball team evened their season record Thursday night as the Polar Bears swept the Silver Bay mariners in girls volleyball action at Floodwood High School.

The Polar Bears notched their second win of the season as they defeated the Mariners in three straight games, but all three games were battles till the end.

The Polar Bears knocked off the Mariners 25-22 in the first game of the match, another close contest was in the second game as again Floodwood prevailed 26-24 in game two, the third game saw the Polar Bears cruised to a 25-18 win and a sweep over Silver Bay.

Floodwood was led by Stacey Larva who had 13 kills, to go along with 3 ace serves and 5 digs. Sara Scharnberg had 5 kills and 2 ace serves, Marissa Johnson had 4 Kills and 5 ace serves, and Sydney lough had 21 set assists and 2 ace serves.

Silver Bay was led by Brandi Nopola who had 4 kills and 6 digs, Sydney Topp finished with 4 kills and 5 Blocks, while it was Alex Koster had 6 ace serves for the Mariners.

The Polar Bears move to 2-2  on the season and they are back in action again next Monday night when they host Cherry at home, Silver Bay falls to 0-6 on the season and they are back home next Tuesday night when they host Moose Lake-Willow River.
