Cloquet Soccer Finishes Regual Season With A Win

A very successful 2009 regular season came to a close for the Cloquet girls soccer team on Tuesday as they hosted Duluth Marshall. Cloquet finished the season on a high note with a 2-0 shutout victory over the Hilltoppers.


Emily Johnson got things started for the Jacks by scoring a first half goal off an assist from Jesse Ryan. Haley Bassett added a second half goal with the assist going to Lena Swander to give the Jacks the 2-0 victory.


Kaitrin Rathe earned the shutout victory by making five saves on the evening. This is her ninth shutout of the season. In 18 games, Rathe has given up a mere 17 goals for a .944 goals per game average.


Cloquet finishes the regular season portion of the 2009 campaign with a 14-2-1 record. When playoff action begins Thursday, the #1 seeded Lumberjacks will be looking for their third Section 7A title in the last four years. They will host #16 seed North Lakes in the first round.
