NSO Volleyball Recap For Oct 8

Thursday night was a busy one for high school volleyball action. Check out our NSO Volleyball summary below to find out how your favorite team faired.

AlBrook 3 Cotton 1…The Falcons won by scores of 25-23, 18-25, 25-16 and 25-17. Kortney Karppinen had a huge day for AlBrook with 20 kills and 3 blocks. Chelsea Hendrickson aided the Falcon cause with 32 set assists, while Kylene Fremling finished with 6 kills and 6 ace serves and Kendra Dallman added 10 kills.

Ashland 3 Cloquet 2…The Lumberjacks took game one 25-20, lost game two 19-25,
rallied back to win game three 25-22, but then lost the final two games 25-23 and 15-11. Leading the Jacks were Katie Konietzko and Katie Schulz. Konietzko had 16 kills and 17 digs, while Schulz had 13 kills and 15 digs. Keanna Karulak ran the offense with 39 set assists and 12 digs.

Barnum 3 Carlton 0…The red hot Bombers stayed that way with a 26-24, 25-23 and 25-21 win over the Bulldogs. It wasn’t easy as the pesky Bulldogs kept things close the entire way. Katrina Newman led the Bombers with 13 kills and 15 digs. Jessica Newman aided the cause with 27 set assists for Barnum. Leading Carlton was Tayler Carpenter with 10 kills and Clarissa Nelson who had 8 kills.

Cromwell 3 Two Harbors 1…The Cards won game one easily 25-15, but stumbled in a 17-25 loss in game two. Cromwell then rebounded to smoke the Agates by scores of 25-7 and 25-14 in the final two games. Tarah Johnson was 13-for-13 in serving for the Cards with 6 ace serves and Ari Korpela record 9 set assists in the win.

Esko 3 Cook County 2…Esko had their hands full in their 23-25, 25-19, 25-13, 22-25 and 15-5 win. Keely Deadrick recorded 41 set assists and 7 digs for Esko. Joining Deadrick in leading Esko were Kayla Handevidt, who had 29 kills, 8 digs and 5 blocks, Alyson Glumac who recorded 11 kills and Stephanie Bandelin who finished with 9 kills.


Hermantown 3 Proctor 0…The Hawks continued their dominance over the Rails in high school volleyball with wins of 25-12, 25-9 and 25-11. Stephanie Thun had 6 kills, while both Jessica Muehlberger and Samantha Kallberg recorded 5 kills for the Hawks.
