An early season match up of two of the top teams in area girls soccer took place in Cloquet with the Hermantown Hawks snatching a 3-1 victory from the hometown Jacks.

Hermantown took a 1-0 lead in the 22nd minute on a goal by Madison Danelski and that stood as the only goal of the first half.

Hailey Hoff pushed the Hawks lead to 2-0 on a penalty kick in the 43rd minute and that was followed by an Allysa Siljendahl goal just five minutes later to make it 3-0 in favor of Hermantown.

Cloquet-Carlton responded on a goal by Kayla Baker in the 68th minute with an assist by Maija Doran that pulled CC to within 3-1, but that would be all the closer they would get.
