The Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College football team has struggled to find wins this season. The Thunder held a one point lead on Northland Community College on Saturday afternoon, but they were unable to hang on and found themselves on the short end of a 20-13 score.

“It was a very disappointing loss,” said Thunder coach Tony Deleon. “It was a game we should have had and we needed to win.”

Northland grabbed a 6-0 lead in the first quarter, but the Thunder struck back in the second quarter to grab a 7-6 lead and that is the way things stayed at halftime.

“What makes it disappointing is the belief that we have about our team being better than our record indicates,” commented Deleon. “We’ve made it a harder road for our team to make the playoffs.”

Defensively, the Thunder had an impressive day holding NCC to just 175 yards of total offense. Offensively, the Thunder had two interceptions and a pair of fumbles, one of which went through the end zone for a touch back. The Thunder also had a dropped pass that would have been a score to end the first half and given them a touchdown lead.

Both teams managed a touchdown in the third quarter and the Thunder led 13-12 heading into the fourth quarter before giving up a late touchdown and a two-point conversion in the final stanza.

Robert Drayton led the rushing stats for the Thunder with nine carries for 66 yards and March Jones added 13 carries for 71 yards. Both Drayton and Jones scored for the Thunder. Nicholas Chandler had five tackles and a sack for the Thunder defense.
