Wrenshall Ends Football Season

Sept 22

It was decided Tuesday that the Wrenshall Wrens would forfeit the remainder of their 2009 schedule. This decision comes off of a forfeit to Northland – Remer last Friday when the Wrens were unable to field a team for the game held in Remer.

“We’ve recently had two more players quit on us,” head coach Jeremy Zywicki told Northland Sports Online. “With already having extremely low numbers and several injuries, we just don’t have enough players to play our varsity schedule…We have good numbers in our youth program and hopefully they are the future.”

Wrenshall was scheduled to play host to Floodwood this Friday at home. The other four games against Isle, Hill City, McGregor, and Cromwell will all go down as 2-0 losses. Wrenshall was awarded a forfeit victory to start the season when LaPorte was forced to forfeit due to numbers issues as well. Wrenshall’s lone game this season was a 42-8 loss to Nevis.
