Cromwell Topples Hill City 35-6

The Jordan’s have it! Jordan Smith and Jordan Suhonen each scored two touchdowns as the Cromwell Cards defeated the Hill City Hornets 35-6 in high school football on Friday night.


The Cards managed only one score in the first quarter and it came on the defensive side of the ball when Smith picked off an errant Hornets throw near his own goal line. He took it 99-yards for a touchdown and Suhonen added the conversion run for an 8-0 lead at the end of one quarter.


Suhonen rumbled in from the 2-yard line in the second quarter and Smith booted the extra point giving the Cards a 15-0 lead, but Hill City cut the lead to 15-6 when Kyle Woodford busted loose on a 70-yard touchdown gallop.


In the third quarter, it was Suhonen adding a 2-yard run and Smith scoring on a 15-yard pass reception from Suhonen as the Cards pushed the lead to 29-6 as the quarter ended.


John Schliauter scored the only touchdown of the fourth quarter on a 28-yard touchdown run for the Cards.


The Cardinals got a big game on defense from Mike Hedin with 18 tackles while Schliauter added 8 and Ryan Hutar finished with six tackles.
