Cherry Splits At State SoftBall Tournament

The Cherry Tigers had mixed results as it fell 6-3 to the New Life Academy Eagles in their first game of the state softball tournament. They rebounded with a 7-3 win over the New York Mills Eagles in the consolation bracket.

In the loss to New Life Academy the Tigers couldn’t overcome 7 walks and 4 errors.
DeAnn Bjerklies 4 for 4 effort at the plate and 2 RBI’s by Amber Anderson were the highlites from game one.

The Tigers played New York Mills in the consolation bracket and the result was a 7-3 victory. Bjerklies continued her offensive prowess as she went 2 for 4, scored 2 runs and had 2 RBI’s. Kristin Lahti went 2 for 3, scored a run and had an RBI. Kacey Herring pitched 6 innings for the win.

The Cherry Tigers plays the New Ulm Cathedral Greyhounds at 9am Friday June 7th for the consolation trophy.
