Eskomos Reel Off Seventh Straight Win

The Esko Eskomos shot an amazing 60% from the floor Thursday night, while the home Virginia Blue Devils shot only 29% from the floor as the Eskomos picked up their seventh straight win after dropping the season opener against Hermantown. The Eskomos beat the Blue Devils by a final score of 72-46.


The Eskomos built up a 12 point 34-22 lead at the break, extended that lead in the second half by outscoring the Blue Devils by a 38-24 margin as the Eskomos won by 26 points on the road.


Kory Deadrick, who has been on a scoring binge as of late finished with 21 points in the Eskomos win Thursday night; he was also 7-8 from the free throw line. Forward Ben Hansen finished with 17 points for Esko, while Casey Staniger added 15 points in the Eskomos win.


Nate Hanson added 6 points for Esko and it was Marc Peterson who chipped in with 5 points. Jaxson Turner and Bobby Wright both added 4 points for the Eskomos. Esko also won the Rebounding battle as they finished with 48 rebounds compared to only 33 for the Blue Devils.


The Blue Devils were led by Cade Stackpool, who scored 13 points. Cole Skadsem finished with 12, Brice Negen added 6 points, while Jeb Johnson, Dominic Larson, and Jacob Quick all had 5 points for the Blue Devils.


The Eskomos move to 7-1 on the season and they will be in action again next Thursday when they will host Northwestern of Maple Wisconsin in the boy’s holiday tournament. The other contest in the Esko tournament will feature South Ridge taking on International Falls in the first game Thursday.


The Blue Devils fall to 4-2 on the season overall and they will be back in action next Thursday as well when they will play in the Princeton Holiday tournament. Hermantown, Princeton, and Big Lake make up the other three teams in the tournament.
