The Lady Cardinals picked up their third win in a row as the Cromwell Cardinals knocked off the Hill City Hornets in a girls non-conference match-up Thursday night at Hill City High School by a score of 71-48.

Cromwell used an early first half run to build up a 14 point halftime lead as the Cardinals finished with 10 players in the scoring column on Thursday night. The Cardinal led 34-20 at halftime, and continued to play well in the second half as the Cardinals extended their lead for the 23 point road victory.

Cromwell had their long range shooting on the mark Thursday as the Cardinals connected on nine three pointers, whereas the Hornets failed to hit one three point shot on the night.

Allie Cahoon led the Cardinals with 18 points on the night. Ann Collman chipped in with 16 points, and it was Chris Stenson who added 15 points as the Cardinals finished with three players in double figures.

Stenson also connected on three long range bombs while it was Brittany Johnson and Allie Cahoon who both hit two 3-pointers in the win. Cromwell also shot 15-25 from the free throw line.

The Hornets had nine players reach the scoring column on Thursday, but they only had two players reach double digits. Courtney Welk led the Hornets with 12 points, and it was Carly Welk who closed with 10 in the Hill City loss. Mandi McNeil was close as she had 9 points for the Hornets.

The Cromwell victory moves their record to 5-3 on the season overall and they are in action next Thursday in the Randolph Holiday Tournament. The Cardinals will face Randolph on Thursday and they will play either Triton or Grand meadow on Friday.

The Hornets fall to 1-6 overall on the season and they will not return to action until January 3rd when they will face Little Fork-Big Falls at Hill City High School. The Vikings are 6-2 on the season and they too are not in action till they face Hill City.
