Barnum Boys and Girls Sweep Cook County

The Barnum Bombers swept a boys and girls doubleheader on Tuesday night at Barnum High School in Polar League Conference action. The Lady Bombers opened with a 53-34 win over Cook County, and that was followed by a 53-35 boys win over the Vikings.


The Lady Bombers took an early first half lead to build up a six point 28-22 lead at halftime and outscored the Vikings 25-12 in the second half as the Lady Bombers pick up their third straight win of the season to move to 4-3 overall.


The Lady Bombers were led by Daron Mainville, who finished with 20 points overall. Megan Nelson added 16, and Cheyanne Johnson finished with 12, including three 3-pointers as the Bombers pick up the home win.


The Barnum Boys picked up their sixth straight win to start the season as the Bombers knocked off the Vikings by 18 points Tuesday night. Barnum held a 26-12 lead at the break and rolled in the second half as they outscored the Vikings 27-25 in the second half.


The Bombers were led by Brandon Newman, who finished with 14 points on the night. Daniel Warpula poured in 9 points, Zach Carlson and Sam Anderson both added 8 points in the Bombers win Tuesday night.


The Bombers who are now 6-0 on the season are off to a fast start, their best start since 2010, when the Bombers opened up with seven consecutive wins to start the season.


The Bombers boys and girls teams will both be back in action again on Friday night when they will play in another boys-girls doubleheader with the Braham Bombers at Braham High school.
