The Barnum Bombers boys’ basketball team remained unbeaten on Friday night as the Bombers knocked off Pillager by a final score of 60-38 as the Bombers broke away from a small halftime lead to pick up the sectional road victory.

Barnum held a 31-23 lead at halftime thanks to some hot outside shooting from Sophomore Brandon Newman, who scored 16 first half points Friday night. Daniel Warpula added 8 points in the first half as well as Barnum took the eight point half time lead into the locker room.

Warpula and Newman continued with their excellence in the second half and continued to add to their scoring totals as well as continuing to make trips to the free throw line. Newman was 7-10 from the charity stripe on the night and it was Warpula hitting 6-11 from the line.

Newman led all scorers Friday night, finishing with 23 points including two 3-pointers. Warpula chipped in with 19 points; nine of those came on long range bombs as well. Sam Anderson added 7 points, Tory Slater finished with 6, Nick Gelinick added 3 and it was Zach Carlson with 2 on the night.

Eric Zeigler scored 21 points for the Huskies in the loss; Mark Neurer had 6 points and it was Todd Litke who finished with 5 points in the Huskies loss. The Huskies fall to 1-1 on the season and they will be back in action again on Tuesday when they will play at New York Mills.

The Bombers move to 3-0 on the season and they will look to make it four straight wins when they will face Silver Bay next Friday night in a Polar League Conference matchup.
