Disterhaupt Commits To UND – Updated-

Moose Lake-Willow-River senior running back Jake Disterhaupt has decided he will take his many talents to the University of North Dakota next fall as he has chosen North Dakota as his college of choice.


Disterhaupt, who held lead the Rebels to the state tournament for the seventh consecutive season has been a dominant figure for the Rebels being the leader and go to player for the Rebels.

Disterhaupt will now take his talents to North Dakota, a school with a strong football tradition. North Dakota was the National Champions in 2001 and was national runners up in 2003 in NCAA Division II.


Disterhaupt told NSO “I loved the campus, the players on the team, they had everything I need for my schooling, and even the jerseys were part of the decision.” Disterhaupt added that the biggest factor in his decision was “the coaching staff was the most important thing to me and everything just seemed perfect.”


Disterhaupt, who will be used as a safety and a kick/punt returner to start added “With the right training I should be able to see the field right away.” Disterhaupt also added that “playing running back is still in the picture,” for North Dakota.


Disterhaupt, who was a huge part of the Rebels success over the past several season stated that “Hanging with my friends before and after games will be some of the best memories” he will have from MLWR. “Even after the loss to Caledonia; it wasn’t so much the loss but the fact the season and our high school football is done.”


Dave Louzek was mentioned in the NSO talks with Disterhaupt that coach Louzek was, and is the role model he has when it comes to football. “Coach Louzek it the first one there before practice and the last to leave, he turned the program from nothing into a dynasty.”


Athletic Science will the study choice of Disterhaupt as he arrives at North Dakota, Disterhaupt stated “I want to stay and work so how with sports and I could see myself doing something in the lines of sports rehab.”


Disterhaupt also had interest from Minnesota, Iowa State, NDSU, SDSU, Northern Iowa, and North Dakota narrowed it down to NDSU, SDSU and North Dakota before finally deciding on North Dakota.


Jake is son of Mark and Shirley Disterhaupt and he had two older brothers Ben and Cody and one older sister Shelby. Jake said his family support is amazing, “They cancel their schedules, and change plans just to watch my games and my parents and girlfriend have all been there for me.”
