Proctor Boys Start The Season With A Win

The Proctor Rails opened their 2012 boys basketball season with a home win Monday night over the East Central Eagles by a score of 63-40 at Proctor High School. The Rails built up an eight point halftime lead and went on to the 23 point non-conference victory.


The Rails, who connected on five three pointers, used a very balanced scoring attack as the Rails had nine players get on the scoreboard Monday night. Junior guard Henry Habermann led all scorers Monday with 18 points for Proctor and he also hit two three pointers in the Rails victory.


Senior forward Austin Tesser chipped in with 12 points, including connecting on three 3-pointers for Proctor. Andrew Hendrickson finished with 8 points, while Joe Thiry added 7; Brett Pinney and Jordan Carey both had 6 points, while Travis Carlson finished with 4. Cody Stafford and Paul Hegstrom each had 2 points for Proctor.


Dan Dronen and Kaleb McCulloch each led the Eagles with 10 points in the loss; Dronen also connected on two 3-pointers for the Eagles. Isaiah Lobby added 6 points for East Central, while it was Demetri Nordgaard who chipped in with 5 points, Jacob Siebert finished with 5, and rounding out the Eagles scoring was Connor Gafjken with 3.


The Rails start the season 1-0 overall and are back home Tuesday night when they will host Two Harbors in a non-conference matchup. The Eagles fall to 0-2 overall on this young season and they will be in action again on Friday night when they will host the Aitkin Gobblers in Sandstone.
