Bulldogs Notch Road Win to Open the Season

The Carlton Bulldogs broke loose from a first half tie by using a stifling defense to beat Duluth Marshall 56-37 in girls basketball on Tuesday night.


The game was even 25-25 at the break, but the Bulldogs held the Hilltoppers to just 12 second half points, while outscoring Marshall 31-12 in the second half to win pulling away.


Tori Zime led Carlton with 17 points, while Brooke Camps chipped in with 15 points. The Bulldogs also got six points each from Ashley Anderson, Clarissa Nelson and Hannah Benson. Also scoring for Carlton were; Taylor Klassen (3), Caylee Jones (2) and Myranda Papesh (1).


Mary Baumgartner led the Hilltoppers with 12 points and was the only Marshall player in double-digit scoring. Adding eight points was Claire Kleinschmidt, Molly Matthews and Maddie Eyer each had five points, it was four points for Rachel DeWitte, Abby Bushy added a pair of points and Maddie Olson finished with a point.
