All-NSIC Soccer Honors Bestowed On Trio Of Bulldogs

Three of the most impactful players from the University of Minnesota Duluth soccer club have been named All-Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference performers, the league announced Thursday. Sophomore striker Maureen Stormont (first team), junior forward Dani Potter (second team) and senior midfielder Kelsey Gratz (honorable mention) landed All-NSIC acclaim after the Bulldogs concluded their season with a loss in the quarterfinal round of the NSIC Tournament.

Stormont saved her best for last in 2012, exploding for 18 points over the final five games of the season. After going scoreless through the first six outings of the season, the Stillwater, Minn., native regrouped to finish with 24 points on 11 goals (a career high) and two assists — good for fourth in the NSIC scoring race. An All-NSIC second team pick in 2011, has led UMD in scoring in each of her two collegiate seasons.

A native of White Bear Lake, Minn., Potter racked up 18 points on five goals and eight assists. As consistent an offensive threat as anyone in the league, Potter went was held off the score sheet for consecutive games just once all season (a four-game scoring drought in September.) Potter has garnered three All-NSIC selections in her career, claiming first team status last fall to go along with a second team nod in 2010.

One of the main ball distributors on the Bulldog roster, Gratz closed out her collegiate career with a second consecutive All-NSIC honorable mention selection. The Eagan, Minn., native made contributions all over the field and finished the season with two goals and three assists for seven points. A member of the 2011 All-NSIC Tournament team, Gratz started each of the last 37 team games dating back to Nov. 3, 2010.
