It has been a tough start to the soccer season for the Esko-Carlton girls. E-C is 1-2-1 after a 2-2 road tie with Andover, which followed back-to-back losses to Osseo and Cloquet.

On Thursday night, the Eskomos fell behind 1-0 in the 22nd minute on a goal by Andover’s Jackie Meriam and that is how things remained until halftime.

The Eskomos tied the game early in the second half at the 47 minute mark on a goal by Tess Mattson with Amanda Bergstedt assisting. However, the Huskies responded with a goal in the 56th minute from Nicole Lindstrom as Andover pulled ahead 2-1.

Savanah Schramm came to the Eskomos rescue in the 72nd minute when she pounded in a goal off a Kate Marquis assist, tying the game at 2-2. However, there would be no more scoring the rest of the way.

Andover outshot the Eskomos by a 21-10 margin, but Emily Johnson played well in the nets for Esko/Carlton giving them a shot at the end of the game.

Next up for Esko/Carlton is a home game against Hibbing/Chisholm next Tuesday.
