Jacks Advance in Section 7AA Playoffs

Cloquet dominated at the net and the end result was a convincing 3-0 win over Hinckley-Finlayson in the first round of the Section 7AA girls volleyball tournament played in Cloquet on Wednesday night.

Sami Westendorf, Olivia Mayasich and Kristie Wappes combined for 27 kills as they handled the Jaguars at the net, while setter Alex Oakes handled the offense to the tune of 30 set assists and five ace serves.

For the record Westendorf was spectacular with 13-kills and six digs, while both Mayasich and Wappes added seven kills each.

The Jacks opened with a 25-18 win in game one and that was followed by a 25-19 win in game two. Cloquet put their foot on the gas in game three and won going away 25-14.

The Lumberjacks will now move on to play in the quarterfinals against Esko in Virginia on Friday night.
