State Soccer Pairings Set

Pairings for the Minnesota State Class A High School Boys and Girls State Soccer Tournament have been announced and our two local teams will have their work cut out if they wish to win a state championship.

Girls pairings feature the Cloquet Lumberjacks with a 12-5-3 record taking on the #3 seed Totino-Grace which is 15-2-2. The winner of that game on Thursday will play the winner of the #2 seed, which is Blake at 15-2-2 and Alexandria with a record of 14-5. Other first round pairings feature the #1 seed Benilde-St. Margaret’s squad with a record of 18-0-1 taking on St. Peter at 14-6-0, while #4 seed South St. Paul plays Kasson-Mantorville. South St. Paul is 13-4-2, while K-M is 15-5.

On the boys side the #1 seed is St. Paul Academy with a 17-0-2 record, who will play Waconia with a record of 18-0-1. Also in the upper bracket is #4 seeded South St. Paul with a 19-1-0 record who will take on St. Cloud Cathedral at 17-0-2. The bottom bracket features #2 seeded Prairie Seeds at 14-0-0 taking on Duluth Marshall and the #3 seed which is Rochester Lourdes at 19-1-0 playing Mankato East.

First round games will be played at various sites around the state and then semi-final action will move to the Metro Dome.
