Rebels Knock Off Barnum In Regular Season Finale

The Moose Lake –Willow River Rebels, coming off a tough weekend in the Esko volleyball tournament found themselves rebounding on Tuesday night as the Rebels beat the Bombers in three straight games at Barnum High School.


The Rebels entered Tuesday night’s match up with only one victory in their last eight matches played, were seeking to get back on the winning track before the sectional playoffs begin next week.


The Bombers and the Rebels battled in three close contests Tuesday night as the Rebels one the first game of the match 25-22, and the same score was the end result in the second game of the match as well.


The third game was not as close as the first two games of the match as the Rebels picked up the 25-19 victory in the third game of the match to sweep the Bombers in this Polar League contest.


The win by the Rebels moved them to a final 4-6 record in conference play, while the Barnum Bombers finished 3-7 overall on the season in conference play. The Bombers will have one more regular season match on Monday night when they will host Braham in Barnum.


The Bombers were led by Sage Miletich who had 21 digs on the night, Laruen Hultgren added 10 set assists on the night, and it was Peyton Bushey who had 4 kills for the Bombers. Haley Johnson had 20 digs for the Rebels, and Miranda Jacobson finished with 12 set assists, and Karina Cisar ended with 3 ace serves.


The Rebels finish the regular season with an 8-18 overall record on the season and they will begin Section 7AA playoffs next week. The Bombers move to 4-14 on the season and they will close out Monday against Braham and move into the Section 5A playoffs.
