St. Scholastica football’s Mike Theismann (St. Cloud, Minn./St. Cloud Apollo HS) and women’s cross country’s Chelsea Johnson (North Branch, Minn./Chisago Lakes HS) have been named Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Players of the Week in their respective sports. This was announced on Tuesday.

Theismann earns the UMAC Football Special Teams Player of the Week for the second time this season after going 2-for-2 on field goal attempts in Saturday’s 20-6 win at Westminster College (Mo.). Theismann scored the first points of the game with a 34-yard field goal and the last points with a 25-yard try. He is now 8-for-8 this season and 12-for-12 the last two years.

Johnson is named the UMAC Women’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week for the second time this season. At Saturday’s UW-Oshkosh Brooks Invitational, Johnson set a program record finishing in 21:47, beating the previous record by nine seconds. Her time was good enough for fifth place overall, the highest-ever finish at the Brooks Invitational by a CSS runner.
