Four Saints Receive Player of the Week Honors

St. Scholastica men’s soccer’s Andrew Jenkins, women’s soccer’s Casey Mitchell, volleyball’s Anna Zyvoloski and football’s Mike Theismann have all been named Upper Midwest Athletic Conference
Players of the Week in their respective sports; it was announced on Tuesday.


Andrew Jenkins (Cardiff, Wales/Whitchurch HS)

Jenkins earns the UMAC Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week award after totaling eight points in a pair of games last week. Jenkins recorded his second hat trick of the season in Saturday’s victory over Martin Luther College. He also netted a goal in Friday’s win over Bethany Lutheran College. Jenkins has scored in six of the seven UMAC games this season and already has 12 goals in conference play.


Casey Mitchell (St. Cloud, Minn./St. Cloud Tech)

Mitchell is named the UMAC Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week. In two games last week, Mitchell totaled 12 points with five goals and two assists. She had a goal and an assist in the win over Bethany Lutheran on Friday and tallied four goals and an assist against Martin Luther on Saturday. In Saturday’s game, Mitchell scored three goals in the span of three minutes and 37 seconds, which is the fifth-fastest time that has been done by one player in NCAA Division III history.


Anna Zyvoloski (Sauk Rapids, Minn./St. Cloud Cathedral HS (Minn.-Duluth)) Zyvoloski is named the UMAC Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this season. Zyvoloski had 38 kills in two matches last week, including 26 kills and 23 digs in the five-set, come-from-behind victory over the University of Minnesota Morris on Friday night. That marked the second career 20-20 match for Zyvoloski. She also added 12 kills and 10 digs in the sweep of Crown College on Saturday.


Mike Theismann (St. Cloud, Minn./St. Cloud Apollo HS Theismann is named the UMAC Football Special Teams Player of the Week, marking the second straight week a Saint has earned that honor. Punter Jake Church (Homestead, Wis./Florence HS) earned that accolade last week. In Saturday’s 43-6 win at MacMurray College (Ill.), Theismann made a program record three field goals, all from 30 yards in length. With the four extra points he also made, he set a program record with 13 points scored by a kicker.
