Just 11-minutes into their boys soccer game against Duluth Marshall on Thursday night, the Cloquet-Esko-Carlton Lumberjacks had a 1-0 lead. However, that changed three minutes later as the Hilltoppers rebounded from the slow start to edge the Jacks 4-1.

Ben Pietsch gave CEC a 1-0 lead in the 11th minute, but in the 14th minute it was Marshall answering back on a goal by Michael Damberg with an assist to Killian McKee. Luke Pavelich recorded a goal in the 20th minute for Marshall and that would eventually be the game-winner.

Marshall also got goals in the second half from Joe Fairchild in the 45th minute and John McKenna in the 73rd minute. Both second half goals were assisted by Brian Wines.

The Hilltoppers improved their record to 5-5-3, while the Jacks fell to 5-5-2. The teams played to a 1-1 overtime tie on September 4th.
