Jacks Get 5-2 Win Over Denfeld

The Cloquet-Esko-Carlton girls tennis team used team depth in taking a 5-2 win over Duluth Denfeld on Thursday afternoon in Cloquet. The Jacks took 3-of-4 singles matches and 2-of-3 doubles matches.

Denfeld’s lone win in singles was at #1 where Paige Schueller defeated CEC’s Breanne Baker 6-1, 6-3. The Jacks then bounced back to take the #2 singles match when Rachael Collier beat Olivia Kniziger 6-0, 6-1. At #3 singles CEC’s Rosalie Lundquist defeated Ellie Rabold 6-1, 6-3 and the Jacks then finished things off when Katelyn Litke was a winner by default.

In doubles the Jacks took both the #1 and #3 doubles matches. At #1 it was Alyssa Acheson and Reilly Kedrowski beating Mya Peterson and Cassie Bolen 6-0, 6-1. At #3 it was CEC’s Courtney Ketola and Arica Sheff downing Layla McDonald and Maricris Mudek 6-0, 6-1. CEC’s lone loss in doubles play came at #2 doubles when Katrina Smith and Lora Chalich fell 7-5, 6-2 to Jenny Larlenberg and Madria Lehto.


The Jacks improve their record to 4-11 and will host Hermantown on Monday.
