Courtney Johnson provided 28-set assists for her Esko volleyball team and the Eskomos responded with an easy 3-0 win over the Cloquet Lumberjacks on Monday night. The Eskomos won by scores of 25-12, 25-20 and 25-16.

While Johnson was running the offense like a smooth machine, the Eskomos were also getting 12-kills and four blocks from Amanda Belden and nine kills, six blocks and four ace serves from Christina Houser. Kallyn Knutson was strong in the back row with 11-digs.

“We are starting to come together,” stated Esko Head Coach Desi DeLeon. “We still have peaks and valleys, but those 5-6 (point) runs that we were giving up are now 2-3 runs.”

The Lumberjacks tried to counter the Esko attack, but struggled against the Eskomos. Alex Oakes led Cloquet with 10-set assists and 10-digs, while both Olivia Mayasich and Kassidy Steen had five kills. Mayasich added three blocks and Steen had two blocks. Sami Westendorf finished with three kills and provided 12-digs in the back row for Cloquet.
