It took an ugly goal to jump-start the Cloquet offense, but the Lumberjack soccer team will take another win to add to their list. On Thursday afternoon the Jacks took a 2-0 road win over Proctor and improved their overall record to 5-3-2 and their Lake Superior Conference record to 2-0-1.

Cloquet’s first goal was scored by Maija Doran just two minutes into the affair when she took a feed from Chelsea Baublitz and put a shot on net. Just as the Proctor netminder was about to grab it, the ball took an unusual bounce and ended up in the net.

The only other goal scored in the game came from Carley Esse who scored on a penalty kick in the first minute of the second half helping the Jacks to secure the victory.

Kenzie Rathe made seven saves for the Jacks, who are in second place in the conference a game behind Hermantown. Proctor netminder Kassie Haedtke finished with 10-saves on 12-shots against the Jacks.
