Michaud’s Hat Trick Leads Jacks 8 Goal Barrage

Westin Michaud had the hat trick and Nolan Ripp finished with a pair of goals in leading the Cloquet-Esko-Carlton Lumberjacks to an 8-0 win over the Two Harbors Agates in boys soccer on Tuesday afternoon in Cloquet. The win extends CEC’s home unbeaten string to 14 and the Jacks continue to lead the Lake Superior Conference.

Michaud got things going with an assist from Bryan Johnson in the 19th minute and he followed with another goal just two minutes later with the assist going to Jim Peterson and the Jacks were up 2-0. CEC went ahead 3-0 in the 27th minute on a goal by Ripp with the assist to Rob Sobczak. The Jacks ended the scoring in the first half in the 38th minute on a goal by John Carr with Dakota Anderson adding the assist.

CEC kept up the scoring pace in the second half when Michaud added a goal in the 48th minute with an assist to Logan Manderfeld making the score 5-0. Ben Pietsch scored in the 51st minute with Peterson assisting and in the 64th minute it was Manderfeld scoring unassisted pushing the score to 7-0. The Jacks finally closed out the scoring on Ripp’s second goal in the 69th minute making the final 8-0.

Halen Danielson provided the shutout for the Jacks by facing just four shots from the Agates. CEC improved their record to 4-2-2 on the season and will host Ashland at 1:30pm on Saturday at Hilltop Field in Cloquet.
