Esko-Carlton opened their high school girl’s soccer season in fine style on Thursday night when they delivered a 3-1 win over Proctor.

Tess Mattson gave the Eskomos a 1-0 first half lead in the 39th minute, but that would be the lone tally for either team in the tightly played stanza.

The Eskomos got some breathing room early in the second half when Amanda Bergstedt knocked in a goal in the 59th minute, but Proctor pulled to within 2-1 just a minute later on a goal by Zoe Berlinquette.

Bergstedt salted things away 10 minutes after Berlinquette’s goal when she marked another score in the 70th minute.

Esko-Carlton’s goalie Emily Johnson made just 5 saves on 6 shots while Proctor goaltender Amber Henriksen faced 18 shots and picked up 15 saves.

E-C is 1-0 on the season and Proctor falls to 0-1.
