That noise coming from the Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College gymnasium on Tuesday night was provided by Kourtney Karppinen, who pounded down a school record 25-kills in leading her Thunder to a 3-2 come-from-behind win over the Vermilion Ironwomen.

After losing games one and two by the tightest of margins by 26-24 and 27-25 the Thunder swept the final three games by scores of 25-20, 25-12 and 15-12 to take their first match of the season.

The Thunder also got nine-kills from Marita Yellowhammer, but she also set a school record with six blocks in the match. Not to be outdone, Kaitlyn Psick recorded a school record 44-set assists, MaKayleigh Cahoon offered up 14-digs and 12-kills and Dayna Elmer was tenacious in the back row with 16-digs.

The Thunder will be back in action when they host Rainy River Community College on Friday.
