The South Ridge Panthers upped their volleyball record to 3-1 on Monday night with a 3-0 win over Silver Bay at the new South Ridge High School gym in Independence.

The Panthers gained the 25-12, 25-18 and 25-21 win over the Mariners by virtue of continued strong play from throughout their lineup. Leading the way on Monday was Justice Janke who pounded out 14-kills.

Offensively the Panthers were efficient with setter Callie Thomason recording 24-set assists, but it was the depth up and down the Panther line up that helped them roll to the win. Mikayla Olesiak finished with 8-digs and 100% serving, Krystal Karppinen added 8-kills and 5-digs.

The lone loss this season for the Panthers was to North Woods, who made it to the section finals last season and return all six starters. Meanwhile, the Panthers continue to build a young, but strong team which typically starts one junior, three freshman and two sophomores.

The Panthers will remain in their friendly confines of home when they host Cromwell on Tuesday evening.
