After opening the season in a tie with Hermantown and a 5-0 shutout of Two Harbors, the Proctor Rails boys soccer team picked up their second straight shutout. The Rails upended Superior 4-0 in a Lake Superior Conference match-up in Proctor on Thursday afternoon.

The Rails used a balanced scoring attack, with two goals in each half, to dispatch the Spartans. In the second minute of the game it was Jake Kuno giving the Rails the lead for good with a goal and the assist going to Brett Pinney. Eight minutes later it was the reverse order with Pinney scoring from Kuno and the Rails were up 2-0 at the break.

Wyatt Lindberg opened the scoring early in the second half with Aaron Opoien assisting and finally late in the second half the Rails closed out the scoring on a goal from Parker Strongitharm and an assist to Josh Ernst.

Spartans goalie Jarrett Byrnes recorded 19-saves on 23-shots, while Jake Mercer and Ty Rackliffe combined for four saves for the Rails.

Proctor is now 2-0-1 on the season and will head to Princeton on Saturday for a 1:00pm game.
