Bombers Get Section Win – Prepare For Playoffs

The Barnum Bombers picked up a huge section win on Monday as the Bombers defeated the Eagles of East Central in Askov on Monday afternoon by a score of 16-2 in five innings. The Bombers, who will open play in Section 5 on Friday are looking to better their standings within section.

Lauren Hultgren pitched only three innings for the Bombers and picked up the win by allowing only two hits while striking out two in her three innings of work. Devi Henn was the losing pitcher for East Central; she gave up seven hits walked six and allowed nine earned runs.

MJ Anderson helped to lead the Bombers on Monday; she went 2-4 with a double and two runs scored. Allanie Hanek-Siltanen also added two hits for the Bombers as she went 2-4 with two runs scored and a run batted in.

“Nothing really exciting about today’s game, we did play very well,” Head Coach Sarah Yrjanson told Northland Sports Online. “We had Lauren pulled after three innings to save on her arm.” Yrjanson added “Several walks and passed balls (by East Central) gave us a lot of runs today.”

Senior catcher Karianna Duesler had another big game for the Bombers as she had a double and three runs batted in on the day. Duesler entering Monday’s game hitting well over .600 for the Bombers this season.

Barnum improves to 8-9 on the season with the win over East Central. They will be back in action on Tuesday when they face Cromwell in both a section and conference contest. The Bombers close out the regular season on Wednesday at home against Silver Bay.

The Eagles fall to 2-13 on the season and they will host Hinckley-Finlayson in a sectional match-up in Askov on Tuesday afternoon. The Jaguars enter Tuesday’s game with East Central with a 12-5 record overall and they are looking to better their section standings also.
