The Cloquet Lumberjacks scored two runs in the top of the seventh inning on Monday to come from behind and defeat the Greenway Raiders in a non-conference sectional match-up Monday in Coleraine by a final score of 4-3.

Derek Anderson scored the tying run in the top of the seventh and Adam Hanson scored the eventual winning run as the Lumberjacks have now won five of their last six games. Anderson, who singled with one out in the inning, scored on a single by Trent Moe.

Adam Hanson came across with the go ahead run on an infield fielder’s choice from Brandon Conklin to put Cloquet ahead by a 4-3 margin. The Raiders threatened in the bottom of the seventh inning but Cloquet’s Trent Moe threw out two Greenway Raiders who had walked and tried to steal second, but were both gunned down by Moe.

Adam Hanson picked up the save and ended the Raiders hope as he struck out Jayden Gangl to end the game and allow Cloquet to come away with the one run win on Monday. Greenway scored the first run of the game in the bottom of the second inning, saw Cloquet to take the lead 2-1 in the top of the fifth inning.

Greenway tied the game in the bottom of the fifth and added one more run in the bottom of the sixth inning to take a 3-2 lead heading into the top of the seventh inning. Kellin Lamirande and Derek Anderson scored the Lumberjacks first two runs in the top of the fifth inning.

Both Anderson and Moe went 3-4 on Monday afternoon and Kaleb Kadelbach added two hits in the Cloquet victory. Brandon Conklin was the winning pitcher on Monday as he allowed three runs, on four hits. Conklin struck out three and walked three Raider batters.

The Lumberjacks improve to 10-4 on the season, and they will host Proctor on Tuesday afternoon in a conference and a section match-up. Greenway falls to 6-8 overall and they will host Hibbing on Tuesday afternoon.
