Sweep In Singles Helps CEC Boys to 4-3 Win

The Cloquet-Esko-Carlton boys tennis team slipped by Hermantown 4-3 on Friday afternoon by sweeping all the singles matches, and despite, losing all the doubles matches.


Sean Kedrowski defeated Jeremy Amys of Hermantown 6-2, 6-4 to win the opening singles match, while CEC teammate John Scheuer took the #2 match 7-5, 6-3 over the Hawks Nakul Aggurual. Tanner Webster of CEC nabbed a 6-7, 6-4, 7-6 (7-5) win over Joel Gustafson at #3 singles and finally CEC’s Christian Pritchett downed Aaron Cook 6-1, 6-0 to complete the sweep in singles play.


While the Jacks dominated the singles play, it was the Hawks doing the same in doubles action. At #1 doubles the Hawks duo of Jason Hammer and Cody Neubarth downed CEC’s Ryan Wilgohs and Rob Sobczak 7-5, 7-6 (7-3). At #2 doubles it was Hermantown’s Travis Peterson and Josh Lenard beating CEC’s Kevin Kleinknecht and Joey Gotchnik 6-3, 6-2. Finally at #3 doubles the Hawks team of Brett Sterk and Brody Danner defeated Josh Frosig and Nick Tomhave 6-0, 4-6 and 6-1.
