Big First Inning Propells Proctor Boys To 15-1 Win Over Virginia

PROCTOR — Proctor scored eight runs in the first inning and defeated Virginia 15-1 in a non-conference baseball game at Terry Egerdahl Memorial Field on Monday. The game was called after five innings due to the 10-run rule.


Winning pitcher Jake Lewis (2-1, 0.61 ERA) allowed one run on eight hits and one walk in five innings; he had seven strikeouts.


Proctor’s Jimmy Merling was 2-for-3 with three runs and an RBI. Jesse Scanlon was 3-for-3 with two runs, two RBIs, and a stolen base. Ryan McCarthy was 1-for-2 with a run and two RBIs. Cody Dolsen was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs. Ben Nelson was 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs. Evan Scherber was 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs. Jake Malec was 2-for-3 with a run and three RBIs.


Virginia’s Patrick Jarvi was 2-for-3, and Eli Little was 2-for-2.


Little picked up the loss for the Bluedevils. He allowed 13 runs on 12 hits and five walks in two and two-thirds innings. He had one strikeout.


Proctor (5-3) hosts Moose Lake-Willow River on Thurs. at 4:30 p.m. Virginia (2-6) hosts Greenway on Tues.
