ML-WR Boys & Esko Girls Win Two Harbors Invite

The Moose Lake-Willow River Boys and Esko girls track teams captured first place in their respective divisions at the Two Harbors Invitational in Two Harbors Tuesday. The Rebels captured the title with a fairly wide margin of almost 50 points while the Eskomos edged out the Two Harbors Agates girls track team by on seven points.


The Eskomos won the 10 team boys event with 154.5 points, Eveleth-Gilbert was second with 106, Two Harbors was third with 104, Esko placed fourth with 95.5, Silver Bay came in fifth with 63, the rest of the top ten was Cook County sixth, Cromwell seventh, Barnum eighth, Lakeview Christian Academy ninth, and Floodwood was 10th overall.


The Lady Eskomos took first with a total of 170.5, while Two Harbors was a close second with 163.5, Cromwell was third with 78, Eveleth-Gilbert placed fourth with 77, and it was MLWR fifth with 72 points. The rest of the top ten was Cook County sixth, Barnum seventh, Floodwood eighth, Silver Bay Ninth, and Lakeview Christian Academy tenth.


The Rebels Jake Disterhaupt won three events including the 200 meter dash, the high and the long jump. Michael Pender won the 110 and 300 meter hurdles for the Rebels, Josh Cisar also won two events, taking first in the 400 meter dash and the triple jump. Ben Moonen won the 1600 meter run and the Rebels also won the 4×200 meter relay.


Other first place finishers included Nick Koenig, who won the 3200 meter run for the Cromwell Cardinals, and it was Tyler Denzler taking home first place in the discus with a toss of 137’8” for the Esko Eskomos.


The Lady Eskomos had first place finishes from Marisa Shady, who won the 100 meter dash and the long jump, Delany Pearson won the triple jump, Brook Schramm took first in the 300 meter hurdles, Suntina Speher won the high jump, Erika Shady took first in the 200 meter dash, Kailee Kiminski won the 800 meter run, and the Eskomos also won the 4X100, and 4×200 meter relay races.


Allie Cahoon from Cromwell won the 1600 meter run edging out her teammate Rachel Hutar. The Cromwell Cardinals also won the 4×400 meter relay race edging out the Eveleth-Gilbert Golden Bears. Cromwell also finished a close second in the 3200 meter relay race.
