The Carlton Bulldogs used a five run fifth inning and a leadoff homerun from Brooke Camps as the Carlton Bulldogs picked up their fifth win of the season and move to 3-2 in conference play with the shutout win Tuesday afternoon at Chub Lake Park.

The Bulldogs took advantage of six Bomber errors as they pick up the home win. Brook Camps had the first of her three hits on the afternoon when she hit the first pitch of the third inning for a home run and a 1-0 Carlton lead.

Carlton made it 4-0 in the bottom of the fourth inning as Hannah Benson and Megan Bodin both singled, a double from Camps made it 3-0, and an Alanna Groth single that scored Camps made it a 4-0 lead after four innings.

The Bulldogs added five more runs in the fifth inning on seven hits as they made the score 9-0 and that’s where it would end. Bodin started what ended up being seven consecutive Bulldog hits Tuesday when she singled and Benson scored on the base hit.

Camps knocked in two more runs in the fifth with a bases clearing triple, and the Bulldogs continued to roll in the inning. The Bulldogs capitalized on three Bomber errors in the inning to come away with the conference victory.

Grace Macor was the winning pitcher for the Bulldogs Tuesday, and Lauren Hultgren took the loss for the Bombers. Hultgren finished with 10 strikeouts on the afternoon and gave up 12 hits in the loss. Karianna Duesler was 3-3 on the afternoon for Barnum.

Carlton improves to 5-2 overall on the season and they are off until Monday when they will take on East Central at Askov. The Bombers fall to 2-2 on the season and they are back in action on Thursday when they host McGregor in a make-up game originally scheduled on April 10th.
