Jacks Stay Hot With 7-2 Win Over Virginia

Freshman Brandon Conklin tossed a seven-hitter and the Cloquet Lumberjack baseball team remained red hot and downed Virginia 7-2 at home on Tuesday afternoon.

The Lumberjacks scored single runs in the first and second innings and then erupted for three runs in the fourth inning, and finally, they added two more in the sixth to take the win.

Conklin added nine strike outs and no walks in pitching his team to the win. Eli Little gave up six hits in four innings for the Blue Devils on the mound.

Derek Anderson helped to lead the Jacks with a two hit, two run and two RBI performance. Adam Hanson pitched in with a 2-for-4 effort and Kaleb Kadelbach was 2-for-3 for the Jacks.

Patrick Jarvi led the Blue Devils with a pair of hits.


With the win Cloquet adds to their win total, now at five to go with just two losses on the year. They will hit the diamond again on Friday and Saturday when the take part in the Princeton Tournament.
