The Cloquet-Esko-Carlton boys tennis team hit the road on Tuesday and came away with a 4-3 victory over the Ashland Oredockers.

A trio of Jacks took wins in singles play to help lead them to the win. After Sean Kedrowski lost a tough opening singles match for CEC, the Lumberjacks put together three straight wins in singles. At #2 singles it was John Scheuer of CEC beating Martin Dottori 6-4, 6-1. Scheuer’s win was followed by a win at #3 by Tanner Webster when he defeated Alex Wilson in shutout fashion 6-0, 6-0. Finally, Christian Pritchett took a win at #4 singles when he beat Taye Warren 6-0, 6-1.

The Lumberjacks secured the overall win when the #1 doubles team of Ryan Willgohs and Rob Sobczak took a 7-5, 6-0 win over Tom Whiting and Jack Whiting. Ashland bounced back by taking wins at #2 and #3 doubles. At #2 doubles the Jacks team of Ben Tomhave and Joey Gotchnik fell 5-6, 6-3, 10-7 and the CEC team of Anders Pertler and Jack Waugh also lost 6-1, 4-6, 6-3.

With the win the Jacks are now 4-2 on the season and will host a yet un-beaten Grand Rapids-Greenway squad at home on Friday.
