Lady Rebels Come Up Short In Mora

The Lady Rebels early season struggles continued on Monday as the Lady Rebels fell to the Mora Mustangs by a score of 10-3 at Mora on Monday afternoon. It was the second straight loss for the Lady Rebels who lost last Thursday to the Carlton Bulldogs.


The Mustangs took advantage of a big six run second inning as the built the 6-0 lead after two innings. The Mustangs added one more run in the third inning and three more in the fourth for the game total of 10. The Rebels picked up one run in the fourth and added two more in the top of the seventh but came up short on the afternoon.


Andrea Youngberg led the Rebels, going 2-3 on the afternoon with a double and a RBI. Tayler Dixon was 2-3 with a double and Kaitlyn Greens was 1-3 with a double and a run batted in against the section rival Mustangs.


Noelle Elvehjem was the winning pitcher for the Mustangs as she went six innings gave up two earned runs and struck out five Rebel batters. Elvehjem picked up her seventh win of the season against the Rebels, picking up their second sectional win overall.


Taylor Norby led the Mustangs with two hits on the day; both hits were for extra bases. Paige Thielen added two hits on the day and it was Megan Ericson who also finished with two hits for the unbeaten Mustangs on the day.


The Rebels fall to 1-4 overall on the season and they will look to regroup on Tuesday when they host the Cromwell Cardinals at Willow River. Mora improves to 7-0 and they will face Foley the Falcons on the road.
