Polar Bears Blank Esko in Boys Baseball

The Floodwood Polar Bears shut out the Esko Eskomos 11-0 in a Polar League conference contest Friday afternoon at Esko as the Polar Bears pick up their first road win and remain undefeated on the early season. The Polar Bears made the most of nine walks given up by Esko and also three batters who were hit by pitches as the Polar Bears pick up this huge shutout victory.


Floodwood used two four run innings and a three run top of the fifth to finish the Eskomos in five innings as they improve to 3-0 on the season as they pick up the shutout victory Friday afternoon. Riley Bernsdorf, the winning pitcher for the Polar Bears kept the Eskomos off balance, allowing just two hits on the afternoon while striking out eight Eskomos and not allowing a walk.


Floodwood was led by Justin Hall who had 2 hits on the afternoon and a RBI, Trevor Bernsdorf was 1-2 with 2 runs scored, Kyle Tamminen had a double that knocked in one runner, Jarred Heggedahl, Cody Oak, and Jason Myrvold also added hits in the Floodwood victory.


The Eskomos only managed two hits against Bernsdorf, Ryan Holte and Kellen Brunfelt each had hits for Esko in the loss. John Carr took the loss for the Eskomos Friday, as the Eskomos who were missing three starters who were at a track meet, also used pitchers Nate Linder and Austin Pera against Floodwood.


The Eskomos fall for the second straight game as their record moves to 1-2 on the season and they go to 1-1 in the Polar League. The Eskomos will travel to Mora on Monday to face the Mustangs in a section match-up. The Mustangs are 2-2 and are coming off a 6-2 loss to Princeton on Friday.


The Polar Bears improve to 3-0 overall and move to 2-0 in the Polar League. The Polar Bears will face Barnum in another Polar League contest on Monday afternoon in Floodwood. The Bombers have yet to play a game this season as the field in Barnum was not ready for baseball as of last week.
